    • 1). Visit State Treasury Department websites of the states you have lived in. You can find a free list of all State Treasury Department states by clicking the link below under Resources. Be sure to click on each state that you currently live in and have lived in the past.

    • 2). Look into each state's requirements for claiming unclaimed cash and funds. Most states' requirements include the following information and documents that need to be submitted: - Legal name
      - Maiden names
      - Common Misspellings of Name
      - Current address
      - Past addresses
      - Contact information
      - Social security number
      - Proof of current residence.
      - Photo identification

    • 3). Confirm the unclaimed money or funds that match your information (names, dates, cities or towns you lived in and account type). Confirm that the unclaimed cash account is really your unclaimed money account.

    • 4). Put in an unclaimed money claim if you find an unclaimed account that is yours. Putting in a claim usually consists of following the instructions provided by your state administrator The instructions usually include having you download an unclaimed money claim form, filling the form out, sending the form along with a copy of your driver license or photo id and any additional documents to an address that the state administrator gives you to submit your unclaimed cash claim.
