What To Do When You Stay In Penzance

11
Penzance is a small coastal town located in Cornwall towards the South of England which offers gentle winters and cool summers making it an ideal holiday destination any time of the year.
From a pub that has been in existence since the 13th century to an open air theatre, as well as a yoga and meditation centre, Penzance offers a great deal of choice and variety.
Penzance is home to Minack theatre which is an open air amphitheatre, with the seats literally carved into the surrounding hills which nestle the theatrewhich offers the lucky viewer a stunning and truly breath-taking view of Porthcurno Bay.
Even if you are not a fan of the theatre (Shakespeare seems to have a particular over dominance for the Minack theatre) the view is like noother, and is well worth a visit even for this stunning scenery alone.
The performers of the Minack theatre are truly committed to their craft, and will only cancel a show in the most dire of weather conditions, remember that you are literally only feet away from the coast so be prepared for strong winds and strong sunshine so pack and dress accordingly.
Whilst the fact that the seats are carved into rock is something of a novel idea from an aesthetic point of view, it is rather uncomfortable for sitting on for any length of time.
To overcome this, the theatre has available for rental fold up chairs and back supports to take the worst of the strain off your back.
The Cornwall economy is built on traditional industries such as mining and fishing, and the Cornwall Sardine is an instantly recognised supermarket product, as a product of quality and great flavour.
Penzance is home to the The Pilchard Works which is a working factory which offers a guided tour of the fishing process, as well as the history and methods used to catch the local fish "the pilchard.
"Whilst tourism has been a major contributor to the Cornwall economy for several decades, thanks to increases awareness of the quality of the Cornwall fishing products, there has been a major increase in consumer attention.
Only a few metres away from Chapel Street you can find the Egyptian House, believe me, you can't miss it what with carvings of lotus columns, scarab beetles and ancient Egyptian gods, the Egyptian House dates back to 1835 and was modelled after the Museum of London.
Originally intended to safely house its founders extensive mineral collection, the Egyptian House soon developed into a respectable hub for those with an interest in Egyptology.
Another visual delight is Trengwainton Gardens a stunning botanical nursery which houses a wonderful array of different exotic plants The garden faces due south and has a wonderfully mild climate, rarely experiencing hard frosts.
As a result tender and half-hardy trees, shrubs and other plants have been able to grow and flourish in such temperate conditions.
