Adding a TV Tuner to Your Computer
- 1). Power off your computer and unplug it from the wall. Remove the plugs for all external devices, like your computer keyboard and mouse.
- 2). Use a screwdriver to remove one side of your computer's case. Remove the screws that are holding on the side of the unit. Lift the side off the base of the case gently.
- 3). Look on your computer's motherboard (located at the center of your computer's case) for an available PCI slot. These are long, thin slots that you plug internal devices like TV tuners into. If you do not have an available PCI slot, you will not be able to use an internal TV tuner.
- 4). Insert your internal TV tuner into the PCI slot on your motherboard's case.
- 5). Put the side of your computer's case back on the base, screw it back in and reconnect all of your external devices. Turn on your computer. Your internal TV tuner will now be properly installed.
- 1). Turn on your computer.
- 2). Find an available USB input.
- 3). Insert the end of your external TV tuner that contains a USB plug into a USB input on your computer's case. A message will appear on screen indicating that your computer recognizes the new hardware you have installed, indicating that your external TV tuner is now be properly hooked up.
