Pet Care - Reasons Why Your Dog Needs to Socialize

8
Upon learning good behavior while in public, dogs can slowly meet other dogs in the neighborhood and make friends with animals of the same species.
But you have to take the necessary precautions because you may be familiar with your pet's character but you may have no way of knowing the temperament of the other animal.
For starters, you can have your pet on a leash as well as the other dog.
Doing so will make it easy to pull the dogs back if any one of them displays an aggressive behavior.
Another important thing to consider is the vaccination record of the dogs that your pet is going to be friends with.
This will give you the assurance that your pet's health will not be placed in jeopardy while meeting with other dogs.
Dogs may show their greeting by smelling each other and you would not want your pet to contract any unwanted virus that would pose a great risk to his health and well-being.
Depriving your canine of the opportunity to meet other dogs and have some kind of interaction is comparable to not giving your little children a chance to play with other kids and have some fun.
Dogs without social skills are more likely to develop behavior problems later in life.
The most ideal place where pets can play with friends of their own kind is in dog parks or in your own front or back yard if you have enough space where they can run around.
Almost always, dogs that spend time playing with other animals tend to exhaust each other's excess energy.
So by the time you get home, your dog would no longer be as destructive or as hyper as they normally are.
And at the same time, your dog will have their much needed exercise during play.
In terms of communication, dogs express their feelings, emotions and needs through body language.
And being separated from their mothers at a very early age, puppies are unfortunate enough to learn these communication skills all on their own.
For this reason, dog owners have to be very careful in allowing their pets to meet and greet new friends.
Whether a dog comes from a small or large breed, it has been noted that younger dogs are more receptive and friendlier towards other dogs.
It is also the same case for humans, you will see children become instant friends the first time they met.
And with this in mind, the best time to allow your dog to socialize is as early as possible.
