Choose Best Method To Clean Air Conditioner

7
Which method is best suited for cleaning air conditioners? How do I make sure Im cleaning my ACs the right way? How do I ensure that Im not worsening it instead of making it better? These are some of the questions people consistently ask when they decide they want to clean their air conditioners. Cleaning your air conditioner at least twice a year will help it last longer. Not to mention that youll be in better health too.

Anyways, cleaning air conditioners requires some skill, knowledge of what works, the types of cleaning solution for air conditioners and a few other things. Heres our recommendation: if you dont know what to do, simply call an air conditioner maintenance and repair person.

Doing it yourself without the proper tools or knowledge can cause more damage to the AC. That said, here are a few tips on cleaning air conditioners. Each may not necessarily be the best way to do it, but they work.

Clean With Water Hose

Please note that this is risky. So, make sure that the AC is completely unplugged from the socket before attempting this. In fact, a safety measure, always disconnect the AC from the socket and wait for at least 20 minutes for any residual current to drain before cleaning or uncoupling your AC. Water hose is good because of the pressure from the pipe.

The pressure from the pipe will help ensure that the water gets to those hard to reach places and corners in the AC. After that, make sure you allow the water drain completely and wipe it down before coupling and connecting it to the socket. The good thing about this is your AC comes out looking new and nice.

Clean with Brush and Air Spray Cans

If you don't want to use water, simply use a small brush to clean the condensers, coils and filters. This takes more time, but still gets the job done. The downside to this is you may not be able to get to some difficult places, but itll clean a significant part of the AC. Be sure to use this method with an air spray can.

A leaf blower might work too if it has really strong air pressure. Its a little more expensive than the water method, but it works. The good thing about this method is you don't have to wait for the water to drain before hooking it up again.

You can typically start using the AC 5 minutes after cleaning using this method. If you want, you can also wipe down with water after coupling the AC back.

Make sure that that you clean the filters, ducts, condensers, coils, furnace filters and every other necessary part. Also, make sure to check for leaks. If you need help or get stuck, you can always get in touch with trained air conditioner maintenance and cleaning specialist.
