Supima and Its Attributes

22
The world has gone gaga about a fabric named Supima and all who have experienced it have a unanimous opinion that it is a wonderful product to use. The term Supima is a trademark and derived from the two words, "Superior" and "Pima" that combine to generate "Supima", a name given to the best fabric available in the market.

It is made from 100 percent US grown pima cotton and has no traces of any other ordinary cotton found anywhere in the world. There is a short history about the term "PIMA" that the PIMA Indians of Arizona helped developed supima in the earlier 20th century. There are a few attributes that make supima fabrics so special for garments and cloth manufacturers. The first is that the raw material used in its production is very exclusive and rare. The raw material requires dry and hot atmosphere for growth and thus, it is mostly found in some parts of California and Arizona. Texas is also a major producer and lastly, New Mexico can also be counted amongst the PIMA growing areas. An interesting fact is that the cotton used in supima fabrics is not grown in the traditional Southern cotton growing states of the U.S because the humidity level is higher there. The rare availability is the reason why the industry of wholesale apparel design in California uses it in not more than just 3 percent of the clothes they design and manufacture.

The designers who create wholesale apparel design in California mostly use supima fabrics in women's sleepwear, nightgowns and robes. The reason is that its fiber is extra longer than usual. It is almost double the length of the regular cotton. Apart from being longer, it is silkier, softer and also cozier. Moreover, it can absorb the dye in a much better way than normal cotton and make itself a preferred choice of clothes manufacturers. This can be found in a huge variety of colors and some really serious and vibrant hues. Thus, it can be said that the characteristics of length, colors, hues and durability that makes supima fabrics an ideal choice for wholesale apparel design in California and several other states.

The characteristics mentioned above were just the overview and below, let us have an in-depth analysis of several other benefits.

The manufacturers only use the best quality raw material for producing this fabric. For them, there are no half-measures and no compromises upon the quality or the reputation.

Often referred to as the Cashmere of cottons, Supima surpasses them all because of its brilliance, softness, strength and varieties.

As mentioned above the length of the fiber is longer than usual and to be very precise, the staple is as much as 35 percent longer than the other cottons. The benefits emerge in the form of softness and luster and because few fiber ends are always visible, they minimize the risk of abrasion and results into lesser piling.

As compared to several other cottons, it is stronger up to 45 percent and thus more resilient than other fabrics. This is why clothes made from supima fabrics are more durable than usual.
