Is a 20 Inch Laptop Worth It?
That's a question a lot of people ask themselves when they are trying to decide if they want to purchase such a large and nontypical laptop.
It is not a laptop you see to many people carrying around with them, but every once in awhile you do and if you ever asked that person they would say that it's the only laptop for them.
We're going to take a look at some of the positives and negatives of owning such a unique sized laptop.
Positives I was amazed the first time I got a chance to try out a 20 inch laptop.
I was most impressed by the screen.
It was like sitting at a desktop computer.
I had plenty of screen space to spread out windows and work.
A few times I even forgot that I was working on a laptop.
The same thing applied to the keys and the keyboard.
It was perfectly sized and even had a 10-key on the right hand side for entering numbers into spreadsheets or doing accounting work.
It also was great for watching movies or looking at photos on.
Negatives Well I'm not going to lie.
It is big, so big in fact that I couldn't imagine carrying it to and from work or around the city all day.
Some of the heavier models weigh in at almost 15 pounds which is quite a bit considering that the average normal laptop you see people carrying around is in the 3 to 5 pound range.
The other disappointment I noticed was the battery life that took a huge hit because of the screen.
That large of a screen needed a lot of power and the battery didn't last as long as I wanted.
Make sure you're close to at outlet if you plan on using this for more than an hour or so.
So would I get one? Well it depends on a lot of factors.
For some people it truly is the perfect laptop.
Others won't be able to look past the negatives and will probably opt for something more normal like a 13 or 15 inch model that you so often see people carrying around.
One thing is for sure though, if you do choose to purchase one make sure you get a 20 inch laptop bag.
20 inch laptops are obviously expensive and laptop bags aren't.
I'd hate to see the cost of a laptop bag be what cost you a huge repair bill on your laptop.
You can usually find laptops bags for around $20 and they can cost as much at $150 for designer ones.
Just make sure that laptop bag will actually fit the larger laptop size.
