How to Clean an Entryway Chandelier
- 1). Set up a ladder or collapsible scaffolding beneath the chandelier. Make sure that you are not setting this up on a rug, as it may slip during your climb. Keep pets and children away from the base of your ladder or scaffolding at all times while you are cleaning.
- 2). Turn off the power to the chandelier. Remove the light bulbs from the chandelier. Set these in a safe place for the duration of your cleaning project.
- 3). Use a dry cotton cloth to dust the chains and body of the chandelier. Do not use a cleaning solution on these parts as it may damage the finish.
- 4). Place a soft cotton glove on one hand and hold a clean, dry, cotton cloth in the other. Spray window cleaner into the gloved hand. Using the glove, gently wipe window cleaner onto each crystal of the chandelier. Immediately dry the crystal with the clean rag in your opposite hand. Proceed throughout the chandelier, gently cleaning each crystal.
- 5). Wipe down each light bulb with the cotton cloth, then replace them in the chandelier. Turn the power back on to the light fixture and test to make sure the light bulbs are working.
- 6). Remove the ladder or scaffolding once you have checked that the light bulbs work. Repeat this cleaning process once every three to six months.
