It was fun while it lasted, wasn't it? It was a time of expansion: expanding business, expanding possessions, expanding waistlines, and expanding debt.
It was also a time of fantastic innovation.
Being a gadget person, I particularly enjoyed the new technology, as I expanded my mp3 and mp4 collections.
Materially, times were good and we thought we had it made.
But, for myself, and perhaps many others, there was emptiness, a knowing that something was missing.
Wealth was about to be redefined by new economic times.
There were hints blowing in the wind of the changes to come.
Small businesses were tightening their belts, home foreclosures were up, home prices were down, and many baby boomers were starting to experience health problems.
Expansion had become overindulgence and carried a price.
Not enough of us connected the cause to the effect.

Like a house of cards, built upon unstable foundations, it all came crashing down.
The cards are strewn across the floor.
We can now carefully, consciously rebuild.
Which cards will we choose? I suggest that we start with a solid foundation, a foundation based on creativity, innovation, service, and improvement of the human condition.
Let's choose more carefully what we put into our minds, our bodies, and our homes, and what comes out of our mouths and our wallets.
This is the age of cleansing.
It doesn't need to be an age of suffering.
We can create wealth in these new economic times based on true prosperity; lasting physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual values of purity, health, goodwill, gratitude, giving, and service to the greater good.
