My VIZIO SV420M's Remote Will Only Work Within a Couple of Feet of the TV
- Remove any objects that could be blocking the remote from communicating with the TV when you are standing farther from the TV. Obstacles that could block communication between the two devices include people, tables, pets or any physical object between you and the Vizio TV.
- Remove the battery cover from the back of the TV and make sure that both batteries are pressed firmly into their respective slots. If the batteries are not firmly seated in their respective slots, a weak connection could result, causing you to have to stand closer to the TV to use the remote control. Also, try replacing the batteries to see if the existing batteries you are using are dying.
- Turn off electronic devices that are on but that you are not using. The signal coming from other electronic devices can sometimes interfere with the signal being transmitted to the TV by the remote control. Alternatively, try turning off other devices such as cellphones and radios.
- Unplug the Vizio TV's power cable from the AC outlet it is currently connected to and then leave the power cable disconnected for at least two minutes to allow the TV's internal hardware to reset. Plug the TV back into the AC outlet and then turn the TV back on. An issue with the TV's internal components possibly was causing the TV to have a difficult time receiving a signal from the remote.
