If you are a social media snob, this may be because of ignorance and nothing more.
I remember when I first tried Facebook, I didn't have a clue what was going on and couldn't fathom for the life of me how this social networking site would be able to help me grow my business.
This was because of my ignorance of how to manage it, it didn't make sense to me, but fortunately I have two daughters and they soon got me going.
Once I knew what it was all about, I could see the potential and how it enables you to: 1.
Share with other users your knowledge and expertise 2.
Tap into the wisdom and needs of your customers 3.
Enables customers to help other customers 4.
Engages prospects So you can't dismiss its potential, just because you don't know how to use it, or for whatever other reason.
You may find it too time consuming, so you have to learn to work with it and you will become faster.
Familiarity does not breed contempt, it breeds competency.
The one thing which has been recognized as being vital for the success of any business is not only its marketing strategy, but the starting point for a marketing strategy; a vast customer, or user data base.
If you don't have a customer base or potential customer base, you have nothing to direct your strategy at.
Globalization has increased competition significantly, but this is a double edged sword as it has also significantly increased opportunity.
You can significantly increase your customer base by means of social networking and keep in touch.
There are a number of rules to follow and none of these are too difficult to adhere to, most of it is just good common sense anyway, for example, no spamming.
Permission marketing is the only way.
Consistency is also key, if you are not consistent it will lead to failure, this is the case with any endeavor.
From training in the gym to learning your ABC's! Once a month participation won't do, neither will once a week, it has to be daily participation to get the desired results.
If you want followers, you have to be willing to be a follower, there is no time for flying solo.
You have to sign up and engage people, they will soon become followers.
It is just the same as if you opened a store and waited with bated breath for everyone to flock to your store.
Rubbish, close up for 10 minutes and buy your lunch in a neighboring store, talk to the business owner about your business and support his, they will soon send people to yours.
Social network marketing does work, studies have been conducted to determine this, but there are core pieces of this marketing puzzle which need to be put in place.
Strategies have to be design that will fit in with your needs and that of your industry to get the desired results.
Trial and error come into play, but the good thing is it is a no-cost, or at least low-cost option, and all you really need to do is invest time.
