9
So it's time for you to take a trip, whether it be for business or pleasure sometimes our pet has to come along.
Maybe you have no one to care for him while you're away or maybe you just don't want to be away from him for any length of time.
So if you are planning on taking a trip with your dog, and you are going to be traveling by air then that means you will need to check out airline approved dog carriers before you book your flight.
Before you start your research on what airline approved dog carriers you should be looking at, you first need to find out what restrictions your particular airline wants you to abide by.
Many airlines have fairly straight forward flying restrictions in regards to your dog carriers that you will be taking on board with you.
However it is still a good idea to call or check out their website prior to buying your traveling a good carrier for your dog.
You will want to ask several questions in regards to the airline approved dog carriers for your chosen airline.
Questions that you need to ask are:
  • What size restrictions do you have for carry on carriers?
  • What weight limits do you have for traveling pets?
  • Do you have comfortable stow areas for over sized dogs?
  • Does my dog have to remain in the airline approved dog carrier for the entire flight?
  • Can I feed and water my dog during the flight?
Those are only a few questions to get you started, you can of course ask as many as you want, and I highly suggest it.
You don't want to show up at the gate with what you are thinking is one of the airline approved dog carriers and it isn't.
Doing this would make you miss your flight and be late for either a business meeting, hotel check or whatever reason you happen to be traveling for.
Also when looking at these airline approved dog carriers you want to ensure they will be comfortable for your dog.
If you dog isn't comfortable during the flight then her or she can become stressed, thus making you stressed.
When you are stressed it could start affecting other passengers, making for a very uncomfortable flight for everyone including your dog.
So get something that fits your dog's size, with room for a blanket and his favorite toy to keep him calm and occupied during the flight.
