What advice and lessons do the Robertson clan, stars of reality TV show Duck Dynasty have for investors wholesaling houses today? The Robertson family may be known for large homes and estates, and may even own far more than most realize, but the most recent episode of the show revealed a whole other side to the clan and how many feel about the world of real estate.
Duck Commander CEO Willie Robertson recently hooked his parents up with a Realtor to go house hunting.
While the family may certainly have the cash to spend big, and some have taken to the lure of suburbia, father Phil wasn't going for it.
All frugalness and values aside what the real turn off for this couple was, was the sweetly slick fast talking salesmanship of the Realtor.
Perhaps there has never been a starker contrast than these two parties.
It was the perfect way to highlight why real estate agents are often so disliked.
And this is probably the best lesson for those wholesaling houses to pick up from them, and the show.
If you are an aspiring real estate investor you probably don't want to end up being the stereo typical sleazy salesperson.
It can certainly work, and it definitely takes some sales work to move a high volume of properties.
Today those wholesaling houses are also up against some desperate competition that will go to virtually any lengths to move their inventory.
This puts a lot of pressure on every investor to keep up, as can launching into the business on a shoestring budget.
Looking at the big picture this probably isn't the best approach, especially given how consumer shopping habits and mentality is changing.
Inbound marketing is taking over, as is a warmer, more personal approach.
Offering true value, good deals, and building a reputation for having others' best interest in mind can all go a long way to standing out as someone people prefer to do business with and that people will be more eager to send referrals too.
It's definitely easy to get derailed from this stance though, especially when competitors seem to stoop lower and lower.
What it takes is a big picture vision, dedication, commitment, and gradually building up a financial cushion so that you can operate and be wholesaling houses from a position of strength, not from desperation.
Achieve this and you may have the whole Duck Dynasty clan and their millions of fans lining up to buy homes from you.
