Step-by-Step Array Configuration for HP

    • 1). Click "Start." Point to "All Programs," "HP System Tools" and "HP Array Configuration Utility." Click "Array Configuration Utility."

    • 2). Select "Configuration Wizards," located on the lower-right task panel. Click "Create an array." Click "Begin."

    • 3). Select a drive type from the "Select Drive Type of Array" drop-down menu. Select which drives to add to the array. Click "Next."

    • 4). Click "Yes" if you want to assign a spare drive to the array. Click "Next" and select a drive to designate as a spare. Click "Next." Otherwise, Click "No" if you don't want to assign a spare drive, and click "Next."

    • 5). Review the settings on the "Configuration View" page. Click "Finish" to create the HP RAID array.

    • 6). Select "Create a logical drive" from the options. Click "Next." Select the array you just created in the "Configuration Wizard."

    • 7). Click "Next." Select a RAID setup from the options. Click "Next." Input a stripe size. Click "Next."

    • 8). Follow prompts to enable or disable MaxBoot. MaxBoot increases the number of sectors in a track: 63 sectors, as opposed to 32. The increased number of sectors creates a larger boot partition for operating systems. However, MaxBoot can decrease the performance of the logical drive. Click "Next."

    • 9). Input a size for the logical drive. The default size is the maximum amount of space you can allocate to the drive. Click "Next."

      Review your choices on the "Configuration View" screen. Click "Finish" to create the logical drive for the HP RAID array.
