Saving a marriage is a situation that most of us hope to avoid, but sadly it is an increasingly common occurrence.
So what happens when the marriage is on the rocks, or even worse, your partner has already left you? For a lot of us, we make the same mistakes that many people before us have already made.
Yes, it's true, all those "natural" instincts that tell you what you think would be the perfect way to get them back ...
well, they're wrong.
In today's article I thought it would be helpful to point out the most common mistakes that people make when working on saving a marriage or trying to get their ex back.
1.
Trying to make them believe they won't make it without you.
Sadly, this just challenges most people to think "oh yes I will".
2.
Telling them over and over that you love them more than anyone else ever will.
If you're a guy saying this to a guy, she's likely to start to become worried that you're too possessive, and if you're a girl saying this to a guy, he's going to start to worry that you're too needy and emotional.
3.
Saying "sorry" for anything and everything.
It gets to the point that you're almost apologizing for being yourself - and yet, it was being yourself that made them fall in love with you in the first place.
4.
Telling them that it "can't end like this" ...
by now the desperation is dripping off you and is incredibly unappealing.
5.
Telling them that you'll change over and over.
Again, chances are they fell in love with a version of you that was your own person.
Of course, this one does need to be used sometimes - maybe you really do need to help out around the house more, or make more time for your partner.
