How To Jump Higher - Three Types Of Strength You Require

22
The ability to jump higher and run quickly is two skills that must be possessed by a good sports person.
If you are able to hop very high vertically, you also have an easy time propelling your body forward when running.
One thing you should note however is that a vertical jump does not just happen.
It is only possible to leap as high as you dream of after a dedicated training period.
You need to offer both hard work and discipline in order to learn how to jump higher.
As well, you have to discard any negative attitude that might have been stopping you from starting your training.
You need to remove all voices that discourage you because your brain is very much needed for concentration during any exercise.
Secondly, you have to focus on your strength qualities, including limit, explosive and reactive strengths.
When you talk of the limit strength, you are referring to the power of the muscle regardless of the agility of your movement.
You must aim at building it in your harmstrings, quadriceps, lower back and other muscles that are used for jumping and sprinting.
You may want to ask your trainer to introduce the best work outs for limit strength as there are many of them.
Explosive power refers to your aptitude to develop maximum momentum within a very short time without the help of stretch reflex (plyometrics).
For instance, you obviously would require special energy to step on top of a box without using a jog to gain the necessary momentum.
In other words, having an explosive ability means having enough starting power that you can activate in a matter of seconds during a jump.
Therefore, you need to have the limit force in your muscle as the foundation and ticket to an explosive hop.
Finally, reactive strength is also called plyometric, reflexive or rebound.
A good illustration is when you perform a plyometric exercise that require you to bend your body before you can run or jump.
Bending allows the lower body muscles to stretch, gather energy needed for the action and then contract.
When you bend before leaping upwards your tendons are able to produce enough reactive force to thrust you higher than they can if you do not bend.
So you would actually let in force and let it out when you jump.
What is more, the reactive contraction of muscle is not something your brain has to trigger.
It is totally involuntary and it allows you to explode upwards once you land on your feet.
You therefore need to find out how you can increase the foundation force (limit strength) which serves as the basis for explosive and rebound strengths.
You may need to perform different types of squats, deadlifts, ham raises and other recommended work outs.
Look for a professional sports trainer or program that can really add value to your training.
Use the internet to find the products that people are using successfully and get them too.
If you can follow instructions keenly and dedicate time and energy to your training you can succeed.
