How to Keep Roaches in the Garage From Coming Inside
- 1). Kill the roaches in the garage to prevent them from multiplying. Use traps in corners and against walls to lure them from where they hide. Spread a thin layer of boric acid throughout the garage, or use foggers, gels and sprays.
- 2). Clean up water puddles that accumulate in the sink or on counters. Drain the sink after washing dishes. Water attracts roaches, and they will die within a week without it.
- 3). Empty the trash consistently and cover it tightly when it’s not in use. Clean the can regularly to prevent build-up of food, debris and odors.
- 4). Don’t leave food lying around the house to attract roaches. Clean crumbs and spills immediately. Don’t leave human or pet food out in the open.
- 5). Avoid leaving dirty dishes in the sink. Wash them after eating and put them away.
- 6). Eat in the kitchen rather than other rooms in the house. Limiting the eating area prevents roaches from following the trail of food all over the house.
- 7). Purchase caulking to seal cracks. Repair holes in doors, windows, walls, floors and ceilings.
- 8). Eliminate clutter in your house, which will draw roaches from the garage. Clear junk from the garage that provides a good hiding place. Clutter may include paper bags, cardboard boxes, newspaper, firewood, lumber, paper and other debris.
