How to Use Napkins for Centerpieces
- 1). Make silver stars to decorate the final napkin centerpieces. Create stars with a length of 2 inches. Cut out stars from the cardboard, then cover the surface with glue.
- 2). Stick glitter to the glue on the star cutouts. Make one for each place setting at the dining table. Leave the glue and glitter to dry overnight.
- 3). Write the name of each guest on the silver star using the gold glitter pen. This personalizes each centerpiece, plus the guests can take the stars home as a keepsake.
- 4). Iron the square cloth napkin so that each one is flat, without creases. Then, lightly spray the napkin with starch so it holds firmly when you fold it up.
- 5). Fold the napkin into a fan shape. Lay the square cloth napkin in front of you, then fold it in half to make a rectangle. To do this, bring the top corners down to meet the bottom corners.
- 6). Concertina the napkin. Start at the left-hand side of the rectangle. Fold the napkin over by one inch.
- 7). Hold the left edge, and fold the napkin under itself by one inch. Then, repeat steps six and seven until two-thirds of the napkins has been folded up like an accordian.
- 8). Turn over the folded napkin. Flip it over so you see just the remaining one-third of napkin cloth from the back. The folded sections should be face down on the table.
- 9). Fold the napkin in half again, by bringing the top corners down to join the bottom corners. Then, secure the fan by bringing the bottom corner up at a 45-degree angle, so it joins with the pleated section.
- 10
Slip the corner into the edge where the pleats are, so that you create a triangle base for the fan to stand on. Open up the fan, and balance on the triangle base. - 11
Place one personalized silver star in front of each guest's napkin fan.
