How to Make an XBox Crossover Cable
- 1). Take the utility knife and cut the Ethernet cable into two pieces that are roughly the same length. Cut and pull off the casing of the two Ethernet cables from where the cut was made.
- 2). Take the wire strippers and strip the insulation off of the wires that are now exposed on each half of the Ethernet cables. Place the cut sides of the two Ethernet cables with the exposed wires facing each other.
- 3). Attach the striped orange wire from the first Ethernet cable to the striped green wire of the second Ethernet cable.

Take the utility knife and cut seven pieces of electrical tape, each about 2 inches long. Wrap one piece of electrical tape around each of the wires that connect from the first Ethernet cable to the second Ethernet cable.
- 5). Take the utility knife and cut two strips of electrical tape that are each about 8 inches long. Wrap the first piece of electrical tape starting at the exposed end of one of the Ethernet cables and continue to wrap it around the cable and the wiring until it reaches the other side of the second Ethernet cable. Repeat the process with the second strip of electrical tape, but this time begin at the side of the second Ethernet cable and wrap the tape around until it reaches the side of the first Ethernet cable.
