Evening Wedding Invitation
My, how times have changed.
Years ago if I got a wedding evening invitation, I would almost feel insulted and believe that I was not good enough to be at the entire wedding.
So therefore why should you go to the evening event? Mind you, having said that, I personally accepted many wedding evening invitations and had the time of my life.
In my time it was very acceptable to go to the 'afters of a wedding' for say a work colleague or a distant cousin or an associate.
One of the funniest things that happened to me, when I followed through on an evening wedding invitation to my husbands' work colleague, is when we joined the wedding evening reception, had a drink or two, mingled with the guests, met up with the groom, and awaited in anticipation to see the bride.
Yes you guessed it, when the bride came over to greet us, we had never seen her before in our lives, so when we asked where is Frieda, we were quickly advised that Frieda's wedding was on the floor above.
What a laugh we had over this and it certainly set the mood for us joining the afters of the wedding we were actually invited to.
Of course it made a great story, not only on the night but even now.
We had a great night at both weddings and we were the talk of the town.
Now most people tend to have a small wedding reception during the day for family and very close friends.
Then extend the celebrations to all for that evening wedding reception.
While the Wedding ceremony and the main wedding reception has happened during the day, the real fun is only beginning now.
I hear you ask what shall I wear? Wedding attires tend to be formal so I would select something comfortable and colourful for the ladies and as for the men, they will always look good in a suit.
Some evening wedding invitations will state formal wear and if this is the case then out of respect for the groom and the bride you must go with their wishes.
Ladies whatever it is you are going to wear, make sure you do not upstage the Bride.
One day that bride will be you.
Enjoy your wedding evening invitation and think of it as special, which it is, as it is especially for you.
Don't forget to bring the wedding gift.
