15
1.
Do you Drink enough pints?..
..
..
..
..
..
of water of course, your body needs water to function correctly.
Without it your digestive system won't process food properly leading to sluggish lethargic feelings, decreased concentration levels and a slow metabolism.
The Fix? Try to drink 4 pints of water a day, start with a glass first thing in the morning and then periodically throughout the day.
2.
Morning Glory!..
..
..
..
..
..
breakfast time, what if anything are you eating? It's about metabolism again, if you don't break your fast then your body will think its not going to get fed! Your body then starts storing energy and water just in case.
The fix? Always make time for breakfast include protein (egg, meat, nuts) as well as fruit or veg.
3.
I'm on a diet!..
...
..
..
..
Change your mindset! Declaring to yourself and others that you are on a diet suggests that it is a temporary solution or a short term commitment The fix? Make realistic changes to your nutrition that you will be able to sustain for the long term.
4.
Low fat & low calorie foods are healthy!..
...
..
..
..
aren't they? Anything that has been altered to be lower fat or calorie will no doubt be compromised elsewhere.
A good example is low fat yoghurt which has added sugar to make up for the loss of the fat.
All this before E- numbers and other additives are thrown into the mix.
The fix? Make food choices that are naturally low in fat and calories if that is your goal.
5.
Shopping with your stomach..
...
..
...
and not your head.
If you shop when you're hungry you will make poor choices in the supermarket.
This will probably include a snack to eat immediately and then something high Fat/sugar as your next meal (this will normally be more expensive too!).
The fix? Eat something first! Write a list before you go, plan your meals so you know what ingredients you need.
Instead of cooking meals based on what you bought on a whim last time you hit the shops.
6.
Veggie food must be good for you? ..
...
it must be if it vegetarian! Any food labelled as vegetarian that isn't normally e.
g.
sausages will have extra additives, sugar and less nutritional value than even normal sausages.
The fix? Don't look for meat alternatives just look for great tasting veggie recipes that you can create using fresh veg and not processed bean curds, mushrooms and other E numbers.
7.
The lights are on but no one's home!..
..
..
..
..
..
the empty calorie.
Empty calories are found in foods that are high in calories but low in nutrients.
They come from sugar, fat and alcohol.
Examples are soft drinks, sweets, cookies, donuts, pastries, margarine, cream, and ready meals.
The fix? J.
