How to Make Birthday Party Streamers With Crepe Paper
- 1). Lay down sheets of old newspaper and set the wooden dowels on top of the paper. Spray paint the wooden dowels in colors that work with the theme of the birthday party. Wait for the paint to dry completely and then roll the dowels over. Apply an even coating of paint to the opposite side and let the paint dry.
- 2). Unroll the crepe paper and cut off sheets approximately 12 inches long. Use several colors of crepe paper or opt for just one or two to fit with a certain color scheme. If you're using the larger sheets of crepe paper, cut the sheets into thin strips 1 or 2 inches long.
- 3). Fold the crepe paper strips in half. Use the ruler to mark the spot 1 inch from the top of the paper. Make two cuts along the crepe paper, stopping when you reach this line. Each piece of crepe paper should have three strips hanging down from the top.
- 4). Place two pieces of crepe paper on the top of each wooden dowel and secure with clear tape. Add additional pieces of crepe paper, alternating the different colors of crepe paper. Add a drop of glue to the top of the dowel and press the crepe paper into place.
- 5). Wrap a piece of colored ribbon around the dowel, using a color similar to the crepe paper. Place a dab of glue at the bottom of the ribbon and press it against the dowel. Trim the end of the ribbon with the scissors and use more glue to secure the ribbon to the dowel.
