How to Run a Windows Remote Desktop
- 1). Log in as the administrator.
- 2). Open "Control Panel." Then click "Performance and Maintenance."
- 3). Click "System." The "System Properties" dialog box opens.
- 4). Click the "Remote" tab. Select "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer" check box, and then click "OK."
- 1). Click "Control Panel." Click "Security Center."
- 2). Click "Windows Firewall" under "Manage security settings for."
- 3). Ensure the "Don't allow exceptions" check box is not selected.
- 4). Click the "Exceptions" tab. Ensure the "Remote Desktop" check box is selected.
- 5). Click "OK." Close the security center.Your computer is now setup to allow and accept remote connections. For an outside computer to connect to the host computer, you need to know the host computer's name. To find it, click "Control Panel," then click "Performance and Maintenance." Click "System," select the "Computer Name" tab. Write down the full computer's name, and click "OK." Close out the Control Panel and you are done setting up the computer for incoming connections.
- 1). Click "Start," "All Programs, "Accessories," "Communications," and then click "Remote Desktop Connections."
- 2). Type the host computer name in the "Computer" box and click "Connect" when the "Log On to Windows" screen appears.
- 3). Enter your domain user name and password and you will have access to the host computer's desktop and files.
