Proper Pool Liner Installation
- 1). Unfold the pool liner and lay it in your yard while it is sunny. Leave the liner in the sun for 30 to 60 minutes. This makes the liner pliable and easier to work with. However, be careful because the surface of the vinyl will become hot to the touch. Wear work gloves for safety purposes.
- 2). Fold the liner back up and place it in the center of the pool.
- 3). Unfold the liner completely. Stretch the bottom of the liner so it rests flat on the floor of the pool with no creases or wrinkles. Creases and wrinkles will become wear points that could eventually leak. Not only that, they can pose a safety risk as people walking across the pool could trip on the crease. This task often takes one person inside the pool and several others on the outside pulling on the liner to help create a flat surface.
- 4). Fill the pool with water. As the pool fills, pull the liner on the sidewalls until they rest flat against the sidewalls of the pool. The water will hold the liner in place. Continually tweak the positioning of the liner as the pool water fills.
