How to Use a Subdomain
- 1). Log in to the control panel for your website. To log in, type your site's control panel address (ex., "my-website-domain.com/cpanel") into the address bar of your browser and press "Enter."
- 2). Find the "Domains" section and click "Subdomains." You are directed to the "Subdomains" page.
- 3). Type the subdomain you want to create for your website into the "Subdomain" text field and select the website you want to assign to the subdomain from the drop-down list. A document root is automatically inserted. Click the "Create" button to add it.
- 4). Go to any subdomain you want to delete from your website. Click "Remove" under "Actions." Select "Yes" to confirm the deletion at the "Remove Subdomains" page.
- 5). Pick any subdomain you want to redirect to another URL. Select "Manage Redirection" under "Actions." Type in the full website address to which you want the subdomain directed, such as "http://forwarded-domain-name.com." To point the website to a specific page, use the format,
"http://forwarded-domain-name.com/page-name.html" and click "Save." - 6). Click the "Manage Redirection" link beside any subdomain you want to change. You are directed to the redirection management page. To change the redirection, enter a new website into the text field and click "Save." To disable it, click the "Disable Redirection" button. The redirection is removed.
- 7). Select the link under "Document Root" for any subdomain you want to review. You are directed to the file manager for the subdomain. Files within the subdomain are displayed.
- 8). Type the subdomain's address into the address bar of your browser to load it on the Internet.
