With obesity becoming an epidemic it is a wonder that the simplest answer in the world sits right before all those who suffer from being overweight. It is almost always a person's diet that is the culprit when it comes to being too big for their jeans.

Drinking plenty of water is perhaps the most recommended weight loss tip. Water helps to suppress your appetite besides it also keeps off dehydration which can lead to false cravings for food. In addition, water helps your body to metabolize stored fat by helping the kidneys flush out waste. Health experts recommend that you drink at least 8 glasses of water every day and that you avoid soft drinks or carbonated beverages. This will help you lose weight effectively.

Eat 5-6 meals a day. Believe it or not by eating more frequently you actually increases your metabolism which helps you to lose weight faster. So eat smaller meals more frequently and do not skip breakfast.

While eating at home, cut down on the amount of food you place before you. This should be done, since the problem with many is the more food they see, the more they want to eat. Eat because you are hungry and not to satisfy your taste buds. You must always eat only till you feel you have had just the right amount that is required. Anything beyond this is going to show on you.

By pumping iron, I don't mean that you have to go to the gym and bench press or dead lift a large amount of weight. Go to your local department store and pick up an inexpensive pair of 3, 5, or 8 pound hand weights. These small weights are a great way to build some muscle mass without putting too much effort in to it. Look at fitness magazines, do a Google search, or check out a book from the library on weight lifting if you're not sure how to do a proper bicep curl or squat. Just five minutes and a few reps each day will help you to build a little extra lean mass. That muscle, in turn, will rev up your metabolism.

Muscle burns more calories than fat. It will also help you look better even if you are still carrying extra weight. It builds confidence, too. You will feel better, sit up straighter, have more energy and your clothes will start to fit better. Just build up your weightlifting slowly, and do the reps the right way. Push ups and sit-ups -- even just ten a day of each -- are a fine start.

The most basic things about life are simple. If you don't get adequate sleep, production of a hormone called ghrelin increases, making you feel more hungry. Lack of sleep can also make you feel irritated and tired, which effectively takes away your focus from things you should be thinking about on priority basis. And when that happens, chances are very high that you'll be drawn into eating to compensate for your intellectual or spiritual deficits.
