He shared that only 15 % of Indian population is insured, as majority of people in India believe health insurance to be a complicated product. But the reality is not so. Health insurance is a treasure as it acts as a true partner in times of need. It offers financial coverage against medical contingencies.
There is no doubt that health insurance in India is an unprofitable sector due to lack of awareness among the masses. He added that it is a matter of serious concern and all the associated bodies, including health insurers, medical service providers, regulators and Government should come forth to educate people about the benefits of health insurance.
