DIY Mechanics Tool Box
- 1). Place the board on a flat surface. Measure three 2-foot sections and two 1-foot sections. Mark the locations with a pencil and cut each section with a circular saw.
- 2). Measure 2-inches from the top of the two 1-foot boards. Drill a hole using a drill bit that is 1 1/2-inches in diameter in the location.
- 3). Cut a 45-degree triangle from the ends of the 1-foot boards on each side of the drilled holes so one end of the boards resembles a triangular shape with the hole at its top vertex.
- 4). Form a rectangular shape with the 2-foot boards and 1-foot boards. Position one of the 2-foot boards on a flat surface with the remaining two upright on each side. Position the two 1-foot boards on each end of the rectangle with the drilled hole facing upwards.
- 5). Secure the wood pieces together with nails. Sand the box with sandpaper until the box has reached the desired smoothness. Clean the box with a cloth to remove dirt and sand dust. Sand the dowel rod as well.
- 6). Stain the dowel rod along with the toolbox in the desired wood stain color. Allow the box and dowel to dry. Read the label on the wood stain to determine the appropriate drying time.
- 7). Insert the dowel into the holes at the top of the toolbox to serve as the handle.
- 8). Organize your tools in the toolbox by placing less frequently used items beneath those that are used on a regular basis.
