Traditionally, men brings home the "bacon" while the women take care of the family and the children.
However as society progresses, more women join the work force, leading to the rise of double-income families.
In the last few years, the trends appear to be changing as increasingly, more men are leaving the workplace as more companies have to retrench their staff due to the great economic distress the world faced since 9-11, SARS and the sub-prime crisis.
Many of these families are now surviving on a single income brought in by the wives instead.
Some studies suggest that such changes to the demographic trends could be beginning to affect the male population and their psyche.
The suspicion is that men are creatures with lots of pride and their lack of a competitive focus such as a career weakens them.
However all is not lost.
With the advent of the Internet and as more consumers are increasingly turning to the Internet to make many of their purchases, it is now relatively easy to make a living through online Internet businesses.
