Humminbird 898C Vs. 998C
- The Humminbird 898 and 998 are fishfinder devices that feature a combination of side imaging sonar and Global Positioning System or GPS. Side imaging sonar produces clear images of fish, underwater structures and the sea bottom with a coverage of 480 feet from side to side. The GPS capability allows anglers to mark the location of structures directly onscreen.
- The 998 model has a slightly bigger screen display than the 898 edition. The Humminbird 998 measures a display size of 8 inches diagonally while the 898 measures 7 inches. The pixel, colors and grayscale are the same; however, the 998 depthfinder features high-definition or HD imaging.
- The two models share the same GPS features, memory, power output and sonar capabilities. Anglers can enjoy advanced fishing system capabilities like trackplotting and chartplotting. As of December 2010, Humminbird 998 is significantly more expensive than the 898 model.
