How to Locate an Inmate in Georgia
- 1). Write down as much information as you can about the inmate. Write the first and last name of the Georgia inmate or write down either the inmate number (GDC ID) or the case number for the inmate (if available). Age, gender and sentence are also helpful.
- 2). Log on to the Internet and visit the Georgia Department of Corrections Offender Search page (see Resources).
- 3). Select one of the following options: “Search by GDC ID or Case Number” or “I do not have a GDC ID or Case Number, use the Advanced Search.”
- 4). Enter the GDC ID number or case number into the text box and select “Search.” If using the advanced search, enter as much information as you can in the text boxes (e.g., last name, first name, age, sentence status, etc). Select the entry in the search results that best matches the inmate you are searching for. The results tell you where the inmate is being housed.
- 5). Contact the Georgia Department of Corrections directly by calling 404-656-4661. Relay the information about the inmate to the clerk and she will help you locate the inmate.
