Halloween Decorations Made With Glow Sticks
- Glow sticks can create spooky ghosts. As the trick-or-treaters enter the pathway to your home, they'll be greeted by illuminated ghosts hanging from your trees and floating eerily in your yard. Insert a glow stick into a blown-up balloon then tie it off at the end. Drape a white sheet or cheesecloth over the balloon and tie ribbon around the neck. You can tie the balloon to a fence in the yard or tie it to a tree branch to dangle over trick-or-treaters.
- Monsters seem scarier when you illuminate them. A pathway of lighted monsters can lead the way to your door with glow sticks. Create the monsters from empty, 1-gallon plastic milk containers, with painted faces of Frankenstein or Dracula. You can also paint Halloween scenes on the jugs, such as a hissing black cat or a spider web. Place a glow stick inside each container at dusk for a lighted display.
- Carving pumpkins is a traditional Halloween activity. Glow sticks can light the design just as well as a candle. Once you have hollowed out the pumpkin and carved the design, place the pumpkin outside on the porch rail or on a windowsill by the door. Some popular pumpkin designs include scary faces, spider webs, a witch on her broom or a collection of ghosts. Place the glow stick inside when it's dark to illuminate your design.
- A black pot transforms into a witch's cauldron with a glow stick and some dry ice. Whether you add a witch to the design is up to you, but the cauldron can ooze smoke and emit an eerie green light, setting the stage for a Halloween party or outside by the front door for the kids. Place the dry ice into the cauldron with a little water then insert the glow stick to light up the fog.
