When you're looking for an online course look for someone who is experienced in teaching guitar.
Playing well does not mean the person knows how to teach well.
The lessons need to clear and easy to understand along with any video tutorials that may come with the material and games for such things as learning to recognize notes by sound.

Or even if you just want to meet and chat with people who love playing guitar as much as you do.
Either way it's a great way to find tips and tricks along the way but remember to be careful about learning bad technique.
