How to Pit & Peel a Mango
- 1). Cut the mango in half lengthwise. When you get to the center, there's a hard pit. Curve your cut slightly to go around the pit, but cut as straight as possible.
- 2). Remove the pit from the mango. It should come out easily, but you can use your knife to pry it out if necessary.
- 3). Cut vertical lines down the flesh of the mango, about 1/4-inch apart, without cutting through the skin.
- 4). Cut horizontal lines across the flesh of the mango in the same way you did the horizontal lines. This will leave you with a bunch of cubes still connected to the skin.
- 5). Turn the mango halves inside out and remove the pieces of flesh from the skin. If they don't pull off easily, use a spoon or knife to scoop them away from the skin.
