Types of Eagle Birds
- There are 59 different species of eagle in the world. They live on every continent except for Antarctica.
- One group of eagles is called sea, or fish, eagles. They live near water and eat fish and other aquatic animals. There are 11 different species of fish eagle, the bald eagle being one of them.
- There are 12 different snake eagles, all eating snakes, other reptiles, frogs and other amphibians. They live in forests, deserts and plains. Some species of snake eagles are the Crested Serpent Eagle, Bateleur Eagle and Brown Snake Eagle.
- A third group of eagles, the largest in the world, is the harpy eagles. There are six different species of harpy eagle, including the Black Solitary Eagle, Crowned Solitary Eagle and the Harpy Eagle.
- Booted eagles come in a wide range of sizes, but all have feathers that extend down to their feet like boots. Some species of booted eagle are the Golden Eagle, Ayres Hawk Eagle and Imperial Eagle.
