How to Knit a Sleeve in the Round From the Top Down
- 1). Work the yoke of the sweater from the top down according to your pattern. Divide the sleeves from the pattern when stated by slipping the sleeve stitches onto waste yarn and leaving the stitches on hold until you are ready to work the sleeves.
- 2). Slip the stitches for the first sleeve onto the double point needles. Divide the stitches evenly over three needles.
- 3). Join to begin working the sleeve in the round. Leave an 8-inch tail of yarn when joining in the ball of yarn to knit the stitches.
- 4). Work in your desired stitch pattern, working around the double point needles. Place a stitch marker if desired at the beginning of the round to help keep track of the number of rows worked.
- 5). Work until the sleeve is the desired length.
- 6). Bind off all stitches. Thread the tail end of yarn at the underarm onto the tapestry needle. Weave in the end on the wrong side of the work, closing up any holes created when starting the sleeve. Repeat all steps for the second sleeve.
