Overcoming the 7 Roadblocks to Finding Your Success

9
1.
You do not maintain focus.
oDo you tend to move onto one idea before you have allowed time to fully allow your last idea to come to fruition? There is a "lag" time in what you put forth and the results it manifests.
Are you more concerned with finding the next new thing, or that ideal marketing idea than finding out what the long term effect of your last endeavor is?Because you are a dreamer, do you find yourself "all over the map?" Does this behavior lead to overwhelm and then you just give up?Do you fall prey to the deadly "perfectionism leads to procrastination"? oHow can you turn that around? Can you find one thing to focus on, one element that is a constant in all that you do, and allow results to flow from that? oWhat is one element in all your work that you value What is one action that you can take to focus on that? How will identifying that move you forward? 2.
You try to be like the rest of the world.
oDo you buy into the picture of success that the advertising media portrays? Do you desire the type of success your family values? Have you taken the time to be with yourself and discover what success would feel like to you?It may differ vastly from the ideas the world gives you.
oWhat is the one thing that you will have when you are successful? What does it feel like?Is it centered around money, fame, talent, freedom? What does it mean to you? What will you have when you are "successful?" Define it for yourself.
What will you no longer have when you are successful? What will you be able to leave behind?Success is a different thing for each of us.
Though our culture has images that portray what it "should" look like, it is a purely subjective experience for each of us.
Go inside and define it for you.
Paint a picture of your successful life.
What does it look like, feel like, sound like? Why does it resonate with you? Only you have the answer to your success.
3.
You keep getting in the way of your success.
oYou know that you would find life much easier if you would just get out of your own way.
You have come to realize that your frustrations and lack of focus do not serve you, yet everywhere you go, they show up.
This sounds simple, but how many of us still cling too tightly to the picture we painted long ago of how our life should look? What areas of allowing success are you resisting by continuing to want it to look a certain way? What if the very thing you desired the most looked totally opposite from the way you imagine? oWhere are you showing up and blocking your success? Can you find some areas that you may be able to lighten up a little on?Are there parts of you that no longer serve you, but are so ingrained in your life that they have become a habit? oIf you could step back and be the observer of your life, what wisdom would you share with you? 4.
You keep trying to solve all your own problems.
oYou tend to isolate and get lost in your own thoughts.
You keep repeating the same patterns over and over.
You try self help books, seminars, tapes and workshops.
These make a small difference for a while and then you get lost in thinking too much and getting lost in your own problems.
They seem to magnify.
You tend to isolate and even feel a sense of shame.
This magnifies and you isolate even more.
5.
You find it difficult to take action.
oBecause you are a dreamer and you get overwhelmed easily, you feel paralyzed much of the time.
You set yourself up with great expectations.
You don't plan to lose 5 or 10 pounds, you are going to lose 50, work out for 2 hours every day and become the next cover person for the fitness magazine.
Because you set such high expectations, you look at it and do not even attempt to try because the task is too daunting! You have heard of the concept of baby steps, but those are just for babies.
6.
You do not ask for help.
oYou tend to feel that no one understands you and you are different from the rest of the world.
After all, you felt different from your family growing up, and that feeling magnified as you moved into the work world.
You watch others as they seem to glide through life, creating success after success.
You feel like there is something fundamentally flawed with you.
This leads to more isolation.
oBecause you feel this way, you do not share this with anyone.
You try to solve everything by yourself.
oIt is easy to get caught up in the never ending search for success and feeling all alone in the process.
Suddenly, you have the weight of the world on your shoulders and you are collapsing.
How could you leverage your load?Who could you call upon to assist you? oWhat resources do you have that you are not using? You may be surprised by asking.
The Universe will always conspire in your behalf.
7.
You are too attached to the outcome.
oAre you spending time comparing your present experience with your idea of what it is "supposed" to look like? In your seeming failure of the moment, the future can be obscured from the limited perspective.
Find one small speck of faith.
It can be a word from a loved one or friend, a beloved scripture or quote.
Allow that sense of wonder to flow into you.
Allow that part of you that knows all is in Divine Order, in all circumstances.
Find that inner strength that will let you find the respite you so desire, that feeling of letting all the stress fall away.
Literally turn it over to your Higher Power.
You cannot know from your finite mind how the Infinite is going to give you what you so desire.
What if I told you that I know how this feels? What if you knew that you are different, but in fact that difference is a unique gift? That you are actually wired differently at a DNA level?I know about all of these roadblocks.
I have lived every one myself.
I have a deep understanding of how this gift can be a challenge.
I have discovered myself how loving accountability and support are key elements in finding my own success.
