John Milton"s Paradise Lost Heads to the Big Screen
April 21, 2006 - In an interesting bit of production news, The Hollywood Reporter and Variety are reporting John Milton's epic poem - Paradise Lost - is soon to become a live-action feature film.
The Exorcism of Emily Rose director Scott Derrickson is set to helm the film and, according to both sources, is contributing to the screenplay.
Published in 1667, Milton's Paradise Lost is the story of Satan's rebellion against God, how he tempted Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, and the subsequent fall of man.
There's no word yet on when production will begin. Of course, it's not like there's any need to rush Paradise Lost into production. The source material's been around for hundreds of years and it's unlikely the poem's subject matter will become less intriguing or timely over the next few years.
