One of the biggest hazards for dogs during Halloween is candy.
  Any candy that contains chocolate is highly toxic to dogs.
  Candy wrappers, especially those made from foil are particularly hazardous because if ingested, it could cause gastrointestinal blockages that could be deadly to your dog.

that contain artificial sweeteners like Xylitol, are very lethal to dogs.
  Other hazards include decorations and cords.
  Cool decorations that replicate spider webs can be dangerous to a dog if ingested because they get tangled inside the dog's stomach and intestinal tract.
Many animals, including dogs, are intrigued by electrical cords which may prompt them to chew through the cords causing electrocution and/or a fire hazard.
  Pumpkins and gourds are popular Halloween decorations and though they are generally non-toxic to dogs, they could cause intestinal upset if ingested.
  You will also want to keep any candle lit jack-o-lanterns away from your dog's path because he may knock it over with his tail causing a fire.

  And while it is fun for adults to see their doggies partaking in the festivities, costumes can present some dangers if the proper precautions have not been taken.

  An ill-fitting dog Halloween costume can restrict your dog's ability to move, eat and drink.
  Elastic bands can cut off your dog's circulation, if they are too tight.
  Beads and loose parts on a costume could choke your dog if swallowed.
  If you are planning on accepting trick-or-treaters during Halloween, you will want to secure your dog behind a gate or in another room so that he doesn't escape out the door.
  If you plan on having a Halloween party, you should consider securing your dog in a quiet room within your house.
  Avoid keeping your dog outside at any time without supervision during Halloween since many pranksters and Satanists find it amusing to torment, torture and injure animals.
