How to Bait Squirrels
- 1). Place a cage-trap at the base of a tree, or in specific spots where squirrels cause problems. A flat spot is most important. The trap is typically 18 inches long-by-5 inches wide-by-5 inches high.
- 2). Open the trap door, and latch it to the top of the trap. A hook is typically provided.
- 3). Spread peanut butter on half a piece of bread. Fold the bread in half.
- 4). Place the piece of bread just behind the pan at the back of the trap.
- 5). Place scoops of peanut butter in several locations around the yard. This accustoms the squirrel to eating peanut butter, causing it to be less fearful of the trap.
- 6). Check your trap at least once every 24 hours.
