The Story Behind the Trijicon RMR and the Controversy
Trijicon Inc.
, a scope and sighting system out of Michigan, is a very interesting company, with a very interesting story.
The Company of Trijicon is best known for their flagship product, thee Trijicon ACOG, also known as the Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight.
This fixed magnification sighting system is very popular in the military.
This is because it is rugged, reliable, and very good for it's purpose.
The ACOG wash built with the intention of going to war and it shows in it's fantastic design.
Now, a couple of years ago, Trijicon got some not so positive exposure when ABC news ran a story about them.
What was this story concerning, you might be asking yourself? Well, this story was about Bible verses.
Apparently word got out that the company was, and had been for many years, putting bible verses on their optics.
Now, this may not be a big deal to some, but is may also be a huge deal to others.
It seems that, since we are in a war with a predominantly Muslim force, religious beliefs are a consideration.
Some people hypothesize that, since there are bible verses on these optics that the people using them are fighting for Christianity.
This, in turn, is hypothesized to anger the Muslims.
With the risk of losing their multi-million dollar contract with the US Military, Trijicon decided to no longer provide the military with optics that have references to the bible on them.
So, is taking off these verses going to end the war or stop the hatred toward that American war fighters? Well, I can't say for certain, but I would hazard a guess that no, this isn't going to have a major impact on any of those situations.
