If you do not know what the function of each federal agency is, it is important that you research the agency to find out what its purpose is. This will help you cater the marketing of your business to their needs.

    • 2). Contact the business specialist in the agency. Generally, there will be a business specialist or someone over marketing in the agency that can get you approved as a contractor for the government. You will need to contact the agency and set up an appointment to talk to this individual.

    • 3). Prepare your marketing presentation. To be approved as a contractor, the government will need to see how they can benefit from the goods and services you offer. You may need to take some visual aids with you, such as charts or graphs, that can show how you compare to your competition. After you register, it will take one to two days before you will know whether you have been accepted.

    • 5). Follow up with the agency. If the agency has not called you or accepted your business proposal within a week, call the agency and follow up on their decision. If no decision has been reached, let them know that you can visit the agency again and demonstrate your products or services to the marketing team and even their employees, to show them what you have to offer.
