How to Replace a Shower Arm
- 1). Twist the shower head counterclockwise to remove it from the shower arm.
- 2). Tighten an adjustable wrench onto the original shower arm and twist it counterclockwise to remove it from the supply pipe in the wall. Remove the shower arm flange from the wall where it covers the opening in the tile for the supply pipe.
- 3). Wrap the two threaded ends of the replacement shower arm with thread seal tape. Hand twist the arm clockwise into the supply pipe in the wall. Wrap an adjustable wrench in a soft cloth to protect the new shower arm. Tighten the adjustable wrench around the replacement shower arm, and continue to turn the arm clockwise until tight.
- 4). Slide the flange over the shower arm to cover the opening of the tile around the supply pipe. Screw the shower head onto the replacement shower arm.
