How to Secure Studs to Poured Concrete Floors

    • 1). Lift and maneuver the stud wall into the intended position. When the wall is in position, drill a hole into the bottom plate halfway --- 8 inches --- between each of the studs. You'll need an assistant to hold the wall in position while you do this. Let the drill go all the way through the wood so that it lightly scores the concrete underneath.

    • 2). Move the wall out of position and mark the scores in the concrete with a pencil.

    • 3). Drill holes at each of the score marks, using a masonry bit. Make the holes large enough for the masonry anchors to fit into. Place a masonry anchor in each of the holes and tap them level with the concrete, using a hammer.

    • 4). Move the wall back in position, and line up the holes in the wall with the masonry anchors. Insert a lag bolt in each hole, and tighten them with a socket wrench until the wall is securely fastened to the floor.
