How to Relieve Eye Pressure
- 1). Avoid working at a computer or watching television. The eyes can only handle so much stimulation, so when you're in front of a screen for long periods, your eyes can build up tension and pressure. If your job requires it, take 15-minutes breaks when you can and give your eyes a rest.
- 2). Get plenty of rest. For the body to function properly, it needs proper rest. The amount of sleep you need varies for each person, but on average you should budget six to eight hours worth of sleep each night.
- 3). Use eye drops to relieve eye pressure. Eye drops will help soothe inflammation and will also add lubrication. Find eye drops at most convenience stores, pharmacies and grocery stores.
- 4). Change your contacts as directed if you wear them. Contacts worn past their expiration can cause all sorts of eye issues, including eye pressure.
- 5). Stretch your eyes. It may sound strange, but stretching your eyes can help relieve built-up pressure. Lift your eyebrows and hold the position for 30 seconds. Slowly release the stretch and repeat two to three times throughout the day.
