Mario Cart Wii Tricks & Tips
- The fourth console game in the "Mario Kart" series, "Mario Kart Wii" gives you the choice of driving with the Wii remote or a motion sensitive gaming wheel. You are able to choose between multiple characters and tracks when racing. Much of the material in "Mario Kart Wii" is not available at the start of the game and must be unlocked using tricks and tips.
- You can unlock new game modes if you reach certain accomplishments in "Mario Kart Wii." To get the 50 CC difficulty level for both go karts and bikes, you must get a bronze, silver or gold medal in every 50 CC race. After you get bronze, silver or gold on every 100 CC race, you unlock the 100 CC difficulty. To get versions of every race that are set up backwards, you have to get the gold medal in all of the 150 CC difficulty cups. If you place in the top three of the Leaf Cup, you unlock the Lightning Cup.
- While multiple drivers are available on the character selection screen at the game's start, there are plenty more who must be unlocked. To get Rosalina, you have to own a file for "Super Mario Galaxy" and then play 50 races. You unlock the ability to drive as your Mii, a character you create from the Wii home screen, as soon as you get first place in the Special Cup on 100 CC difficulty. After you try out all of the different tracks in Time Trials, you get to use Toadette as a driver. If you get a star in each 100 CC difficulty Retro Cup event, you unlock Bowser Jr.
- You can also unlock new vehicles for your drivers by completing tasks in "Mario Kart Wii." Beat the mirrored version of the Leaf Cup to unlock the bubble bike. You earn the dolphin dasher bike after you beat the mirrored version of the Star Cup. Get all 24 staff ghosts and you also unlock the sprinter kart. You get the quacker bike as soon as you beat the Star Cup on 150 CC difficulty. Play the time trials on at least eight tracks to get the magikruiser bike. The zip zip bike is unlocked after you beat the Lightning Cup on 100 CC difficulty.
