Bathtub Installation Directions
- 1). Unpack the new tub from its packaging and set it into place.
- 2). Set a level onto the bathtub sides, both front to back and end to end. Slide 1/2-inch metal or wooden spacers, or shims, underneath low areas of the tub to make it even. Nail the shims into place.
- 3). Slide the shims between the flange -- the plastic piece rising up from the tub's main body -- coming up from the side of the tub and the wall joists if there are gaps. Hammer a nail into the flange and shims to attach the tub to the wall.
- 4). Set the surround panels into place over the wall studs. Cover up the flange coming up from the bathtub.
- 5). Measure from the bottom of the surround panel to the faucet line and shower valve areas coming out of the wall at the end of the tub and transfer the measurement to the surround panel. Drill a hole for the valve into the surround using a 1-inch hole saw. Use a 6-inch hole saw for the shower valve. Fasten the panel to the wall.
- 6). Wrap plumber's tape around the threads of the supply line for the tub spout. Turn the spout clockwise over the supply line until tight to the surround.
- 7). Attach the faucet handles and the face plate to the wall using the instructions that came with the faucet.
- 8). Attach the drain assembly to the bottom of tub. Place the drain cover into the hole on the top of the tub and turn it clockwise with a pair of pliers to tighten it to the drain underneath.
