eMachines, a computer company that Gateway now owns, released the 5000 line of laptop computers in the early 2000s. The M5405 model was an affordable, or budget, alternative to more expensive laptop computers from other manufacturers. At the time of release, this computer retailed for approximately $1,000 USD and its specifications were suitable for many users. - The M5405 laptop by eMachines has a width of 14 inches and a depth of 10 inches. It sits 1.4 inches tall when closed and has a weight of 6.6 pounds. The widescreen display has a diagonal measurement of 15.4 inches, making it a full sized laptop computer. Customization can increase or decrease the weight of the machine.
- The eMachines M5405 laptop computer has an AMD Mobile Sempron 2800+ processor with a Data BUS that operates at a frequency of 333 MHz. The CPU has an L2 cache type with a cache capacity of 256 KB. In addition to this, the M5405 is compatible with PC2700 Double Data Rate SODIMM at a frequency of 333 MHz.
