Bottle Battle Won - Old Beverage Bottles Made Into New Now

PET plastics have a virtual monopoly on the world's supply of carbonated drink bottles.
Almost all carbonated drink bottles are made out of PET plastic.
That makes it easy to identify to recyclers.
Sorting at the recycling facility is not much of a challenge with PET.
That is its big advantage for recycling, and now it has another one--the potential to be restored to its original use.
The problem is that this plastic is virtually non-biodegradable.
It would take so long for them to break down naturally that it is not practical to even consider that as a solution.
And it used to cost too much to recycle PET back into food-grade plastic.
