Get Rich Quick?

22
The mere mention of those three words invoke a multitude of thoughts and emotions.
It's amazing how three short words in one tiny phrase can have such impact on ones imagination that it would invoke wonder, amazement, lust, anger, and even fear.
How can such a simple term as "get rich quick" cause so much turmoil in ones soul that it could actually cause families to split, marriages to fall apart, and even criminal activity? Since I'm not a psychologist or a psychiatrist I really can't answer that question in a true medical sense.
But I can answer that question from the burning desire of my own heart.
For me it's a simple quest to better myself and to help my family and friends (which includes all you members of Prevailing Edge) in the process through knowledge, love, and a positive attitude.
I would like to ignite the same passion in others to make their world better for themselves and their families and friends.
I really believe that there is no better feeling in life than the feeling you get when you help someone become a better person.
So let's look at those three little words.
The first one is "get".
Well anyone can "get" something.
Most of the time when we get something, it's an action we take like, when we get a drink of water or get mad.
Other times, get is something that is totally out of our control such as when we get sick or get lucky.
So no matter how you look at it, "get" is something we all have the power to do.
We can all "get".
Rich.
Now theirs a word.
When we here the word rich, we immediately think of monetary gain or yachts and private jets.
It brings up visions of glamorous movie stars arrayed in high fashion gowns and tuxedos and bedecked in gold and jewels.
Rich is so much deeper than that.
I've actually met people who couldn't afford "pocket lint" but they were rich with family and friendships They were happy to be without money and were content to just have friends and family be their wealth.
I don't know if this is what they settled for in life or just accepted as their fate or what.
The main thing is that they were happy.
So rich is really just a relative thing.
You can be rich and wealthy with yachts and jets, yet poor in love and happiness.
At the other end of the spectrum you can be broke without a dime and rich in love and happiness.
The best situation to be in, in my opinion, is to be rich in both love and money.
Now we come down to "quick".
This is something not attainable by everyone.
Most people are just naturally slow.
I guess it's in our genetic make up, or it can be in our emotional state.
Whatever it is, it's just the way we are The majority of the people in the world are in this state whether they know it or not, whether they accept it or not, including me.
The good news is that this state is alterable.
Through will, determination and good old fashioned hard work we can change this state for the short term or the long term, depending on how long you're willing to work at it.
Quick is another one of those relative terms.
Without getting into the laws of motion and Einstein's theory of relativity, I'll just simply say that quick isn't the same for everybody.
Imagine driving in a car.
Some folks are content with driving 55 MPH (around 110 KPH).
Others like it a little faster say around 70 MPH (around 140 KPH).
Then there are the real speed demons that like to cruise in the fast lane at 90 MPH (around 180 KPH).
Everyone of them thinks they are going fast and everyone of them are, when you consider that only 100 years ago the average speed was a blazing 45 MPH, when you consider the three basic modes of transportation, trains, automobiles, and the horse.
So who's to say? Even if you find you can't be quick, you have a viable option, and that is "steady".
All of us reading this article can obtain a certain degree of steadiness even if it takes a bit of work.
As long as you have a of goal, all you have to do is create a pace.
Just keep plugging away, and before you know it, you'll get there.
So what are the odds of "getting rich quick"? Well that depends on the person, the circumstances, and the means an individual chooses to obtain his or her goals.
The odds that you will wake up tomorrow and be rich are pretty slim.
Unless you are already rich.
The chance that you will become wealthy six months from today are even better these days with the advent of the Internet and the odds increase substantially after a year or two, and dramatically after three or four years.
In the end it doesn't really matter if you "get rich quick" as long as you get rich.
"Get rich quick" is not a gimmick, although, some will use it as one.
It is not unattainable, although, skeptics will tell you differently (that's why they're always broke).
"Get rich quick" is all about your hopes, your desires, your dreams.
Even if it isn't over night or six months from now, or even two years from last week.
It's all about you and your passion for the quest.
It's all about your dreams for you future.
Don't listen to those who are negative or the skeptics.
Don't let anyone, ever, steal your dreams.
